What is a HEIC file?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is a modern photo format designed to keep images high-quality while reducing file size. Apple uses HEIC by default on iPhone because it saves storage without making photos look worse. The downside is compatibility: many Windows apps, older devices, and some websites do not open HEIC reliably.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

JPG (also called JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format. Converting HEIC to JPG makes your images easy to open, upload, attach to email, and share across platforms. If you need transparency, convert to PNG. If you’re combining images into a document, export to PDF.

Private by design (no uploads)

URImgConverter runs the conversion inside your browser. Your files never leave your device, which is ideal for sensitive or personal photos. This approach avoids the privacy risks of uploading images to third-party servers. Learn more on our Privacy page.
