Frequently Asked Questions
Using the Converter
Why can’t I open a HEIC file?
HEIC files are Apple’s default photo format. Many Windows PCs and older apps can’t open them without extra codecs. The fastest solution is to convert HEIC to JPG or PNG using a browser-based converter like URImgConverter.
What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple’s photo format. Some Pixel and Galaxy phones also use this format. Converting to JPG/PNG/GIF/PDF helps when your computer, a website or app doesn’t open or accept HEIC files.
How do I convert my HEIC photos?
Visit URImgConverter.com...Drag & drop or click Choose Images, select an output format (JPG/PNG/GIF/PDF), adjust JPG quality if needed, then click Convert. Download images individually or all at once as a ZIP file.
Which format should I pick?
JPG: best compatibility. PNG: lossless. GIF: simple graphics. PDF: documents.
Will quality change?
PNG and PDF are lossless. JPG is lossy—use the quality slider to balance size vs. clarity.
How fast will my images convert?
It depends on your system... if your device has lots of power (memory/cores), then conversions are very fast!
Can I preview the new images before I download them?
Yes. In the results area, select the image next to the Download button. The preview tool shows a low‑quality version so you can see what was converted.
Privacy & Limits
Do you upload or store my photos?
Never. Conversions run in your local browser only. Images are processed locally on your device and never stored/saved on external servers.
Are there file size or quantity limits?
Up to 20 HEIC images per batch, each image needs to be less than 8 MB. You can use the tool as many times as you want.
What about metadata or EXIF?
Some metadata may be removed during conversion, especially for JPG or GIF.
Troubleshooting
My images won’t convert, what can I try?
Check that the photo is a HEIC/HEIF file. Check the file size... it needs to be less than 8 MB. Try another browser or upload smaller batches of photos.
Can I convert on my phone or computer?
Yes. URImgConverter works on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac without installing anything.
